Anime Recommendation Thread

Just thinking about Wonder Egg after episode 10 especially for whatever reason almost had me in tears. I can't fucking believe this show right now. Forget that I have never seen an anime handle themes like this this tastefully, I don't think I have seen another show that's handled them quite like this one. I think it's gonna be hard to top this anime for me this year. It's becoming a fav. I'm kind of also a sucker for stuff like this. Maybe my morbid curiosity in part but also when a show can give me feels like this one does I know they're doing something right. This show makes me really happy and also fucking terrifies me unlike a lot of stuff does.

Yeah I honestly only made it through the first 3 episodes. It initially intrigued me on the first one but I got blocked after that until I renewed my Funimation account and haven't gotten back to it yet. It was becoming much more of a straightforward police procedural with a scifi twist than I thought it would from what I saw. Interested to see where it goes. There's just too much spring anime to watch that I'm still behind on atm. Only saw 'The 86' which I ended up enjoying much more than I thought I would but I don't know if everyone would be into it. Took a bit to grab me in some ways. Odd Taxi is a must watch of the season. And I also finished Dynazenon, which if you liked Gridman, will not disappoint you. Honestly the guy that directed it might be my favorite director at Trigger now. There's just something about the way he captures the feeling of his characters with such subtlety that I'm not used to from other trigger productions (except for maybe Kiznaiver, which was pretty great too). Reminds me more of the Gainax anime I grew up with. VIVY: Flourite Eyes Song, is also a big recommend. Honestly when you see the concept on it's own you'll understand why and it's very well written. There's still a lot I haven't even gotten to from spring season yet though, so I'll see what else I can recommend from there!

I've been going through more anime then I'm used to. Recently finished the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Before that, I watched Odd Taxi. Very recommend that one!

Thinking of watching either Skate Infinity or Akudama Drive next!

I have seen bits and pieces of both Clannads a lot but have never made it through the whole thing on my own. Maybe I would have more patience for it now but back when it never quite grabbed me (even though the premise was quite interesting). Dr. Stone was also quite good, watched it a while back and liked it quite a lot. I kinda watched a lot of anime earlier this year and took a break recently but I'm back to them now. This year so far I watched and really liked a lot. Carol and Tuesday really got me with it's musical stuff, Anohana hit me with some crazy feels, which in hindsight maybe watching it and Violet Evergarden back to back wasn't the best choice, but ohhhh weeeeell.

I ended up watching a lot more isekai this year than I thought I ever would in my life because I usually find them uninspired... but damn they're proving me wrong lately. I never thought I would enjoy 'Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon' but I am now shamefully (to those who judge me based on glancing at it) admit that I enjoyed it quite a lot. Re:Zero season 2 also grabbed me pretty well and I put that show off initially for years. I was wrong to judge it by it's cover as well. Rising of the Shield Hero was also a pretty fun watch and subverted a few of my expectations. Definitely would recommend Re:Zero the most out of all of those.

Then there's the anime I picked up recently after discovering I can pull up Funimation ad free without a subscription. Appare-Ranman is easily worth your time. It's one of the coolest anime I have watched this year and gives some Jojo pt7 and a bit of Cowboy Bebop vibes. Just started Deca-Dence as well, and so far I really love it. It starts out with an already interesting set up and then throws a HUGE curve ball I don't think I could have seen coming early on.

That's not even everything but I guess that's most of the more memorable new stuff I have seen this year so far.... and the new Promised Neverland season is soon approaching..... holy shit I can't wait for that.... (best thriller anime I have seen in years if you haven't seen season 1. Please do that. You won't regret it)
Same experience with me.

I watched a bit of The Vision of Escaflowne last year! I read it was a bit similar to Xenogears, and I was craving something to scratch that Xenogears itch. Unfortunately I can't sit still for long so I've only watched the first 6 or so episodes. I really liked it though, I will definitely revisit it once I get in an anime mood. I loved the white-haired villain and the pink-haired cat girl (forgot their names....)

I liked Escaflowne! I still need to see the movie, but the music in the anime was fantastic.

I've watched about half of Bocchi and Urusei Yatsura lately and I stopped on Bocchi for now because I know the group I watch anime with lately are gonna probably love it. (Well they saw the first episode and I'm pretty sure they already do love it a good bit lol) but yeah. I'm still working through it, just want to save the rest for when we can watch more.

I need to honestly hop on Witch from Mercury soon, I put it off because lately I had been between keeping up with Chainsaw Man, Spy X Family, and Mob Psycho with friends and mostly just finally slowly making my way through the spiritual journey known as Gintama on my own so I've been pretty tied up with that in anime watching time but now that I'm done with those first 3 for now, it's time to really catch up on stuff I missed last season I wanted to see....

omg too much came out last season... I still need to watch To Your Eternity S2 and My Hero S6 at very least. Well I may put MHA off a bit more seeing as I am largely caught up in the manga.

Speaking of Manga, I've been reading a few random new ones on and off lately, which I feel like I need to do more. Some of them I've gone into on a whim have been really fun. The last 2 I picked up were "Young Ladies dont play Fighting Games," which is a lot of fun if you enjoy the deeper parts of fighting games framed in a more shojo feeling way, I guess I would put it? And then there's Zom 100 bucket list of the dead, which is honestly pretty fanservicey but the art really caught my eye and it's been very silly so far (albeit a bit gross at times). Regardless, I enjoy it. It's definitely stupid but I can't stand overly serious zombie shit usually anyway so it works for me.

Hello. I’m in the mood for some fresh anime and would love your recommendations! I’ve recently enjoyed series like Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, and Demon Slayer. I’m open to any genre, but I’m particularly interested in shows with strong character development and compelling storylines. If you’ve come across any hidden gems or popular series that are worth watching, please share! I’m eager to dive into something new and exciting. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Whoa, you’ve had a solid run this year! Totally feel you on Re:Zero it surprised me way more than I expected too. And Appare-Ranman was such a fun ride, loved the vibe shift mid-way. Might have to finally check out Promised Neverland now that you hyped it up
