Hello everybody. I made this thread because I am stuck at the Song of Nephilim. The enemies deal way too much damage for me to tank, and since they love taking 4 turns in a row, it's enough for them to wipe my whole party without me having a chance to do anything. Is there a shop beforehand that sells armour that raises my defence enough? I think I'm good for output damage, so raising tech levels isn't necessary. Any assorted tricks to ease the damage my party takes would be appreciated, but nothing excessively grindy, thanks.

Hello! I've only played the game twice so I'm probably not SUPER authoritative, but

Various shops around the game update as the game goes on, so its worth checking back in to see what new equipment there is. In addition, healthy exploration will give you more armor that you can equip

I'm sure you've heard of the Bravesoul method. By playing Casino minigames, you can purchase an item which drastically scales attack as you lose HP. This is extremely helpful and gets you through some of the more grindy enemies in the game. For characters with AOE attacks, like Jr, it makes many encounters a joke when utilized correctly

Remember that Techs also have a delay built in, so using a tech means your turn will be delayed. This can be fixed with good turn management, as you can always check the HP with the scope equipped, so you never need to put more in than you need.

Finally, look into some ether buffs. Safety level is OP, since it makes sure you will always survive with 1 HP. I use it to fight an optional boss early.

I don't think you can leave the Song once you enter it however, so some of these might not be viable unless you have a backup save.

I remember the Song being really grindy my first playthrough as well. Just keep at it and keep your HP up. There's an overwhelming amount of character customization and systems in XS1, and playing around with the systems and such might help. Experimentation is good.

Hope that helps!

I did get through the dungeon part, but the cutscene froze before the fight with Albedo? I know the PS2 hates dual layered disc, and it's a well known problem, but is there any way to get around it? I've only had one other cutscene freeze up on me like this.

Unrelated but it's interesting this tip works for dual layered disk issues. Is it something to do with the sensor's range?
It literally might just be a placebo effect for dual layered, but all I know is that the laser on my PS2 is getting old, so its struggles to read discs at times. Its easier to load dual layered discs compared to the blue discs (ie Guilty Gear X) but I still need to mount my PS2 on its side at the least, or upside down at most.

I'll try that. How about cleaning the laser? I hear glass cleaner and a q-tip work well, but I'm afraid of frying my console.

Alright, I managed to find a work around, and beat the bosses. Is it worth it getting Erde Kaiser for the final dungeon? How long would it take me to get the remaining parts?
