Nopons have had a lot of scary implications put in the xenoblades for years now. But 3 probably has the most insane stuff by far already that's basically unaddressed. Spoilers for 3 but also I'll be talking about 1 and 2 and a smattering of XS.
It was always a bit weird to me that nopon existed independently in xb1 and xb2's universes. My theory before 3 was that Klaus had known nopon exist either because they existed on his version of earth for real or maybe were some mascot he recognized. Both his conscious and unconscious forms created them separately. Along with many other creatures obviously.
However, in 3 it shows many times throughout the plot that nopon are unaffected by origin and moebius and everything else in aionios. They mostly keep their distance from humans, live full normal lives, reproduce (however nopon do that), and don't interfere. It's unclear on why they don't interfere and why they are unaffected and why moebius doesn't consider them much a threat. They exist outside of providence similar to ouroboros. But, why? Past games have had small bits implying nopon have otherworldly attributes. It would be kinda hilarious to me if they never addressed this as much as I want them to.
This all leads me to my 3rd theory. I have little basis it's just a fun idea I thought of. Nopon are forms of some incomprehensible god being. They act as the eyes of god. They manifest as parts of god and watch over the mortal world for it. For why we cannot know. Because they are extensions of god's influence onto the world and appeared without Klaus' choice they are immune to the rules of existence. Man's machines and tinkering such as Origin cannot impact beings that manifest from a higher plane. The nopon are pacifist because they wish only to observe and to be. They can be killed but it is merely an illusion to make them understandable to human beings. Since in reality they don't exist and are just projections of something that is impossible to perceive.
Any thoughts? Not a very serious theory I just wanted to have fun with this one and share. But for real there's something so messed up happening with the nopon and i want to know why so bad.
