Preserving Xeno works and worlds

Hi everyone! ~

Just posting a short update here to let everyone know I’m plugging along with the migration and I expect that the main site will be up within the next two weeks, if not within the next few days depending on how I feel about the level of completion. It’s 2026 and my brain is very full from learning new infrastructure deployment techniques, coding as a human, and using LLM agents. It’s scary and I am coping by blasting EDM and running like 6 terminal windows on my living room TV at once.

That’s a lot to say - It’s moving full speed ahead and tonight I was able to tie off a few loose ends in the functionality of the board. Now restored are;

• Signatures
• Profiles
• DMs
• Most remaining photos and links in threads
• Most broken BB code (still spot checking)

To do, on the Discourse side, I’d like to fix the wonky chat and add emojis and a rank system. One thing at a time.

We’ll be looking for mods and various kinds of contributors when the main site opens.

Please be advised that when the main page opens the server hosting Xenforo (currently godsibb.net) will be retired and publicly inaccessible. I’ve made a good faith effort to restore everything possible to spec and I will retain a backup in case some people want their accounts restored at a later date. However, I cannot indefinitely pay for two clusters. Please try and reactivate your account here if you had one before and may want one again and please also try and create a personal backup of anything important from the old board. Thanks for your cooperation!

I’m looking forward to our opening and once it’s up I’m excited to build on it further. There are some surprises in store!

Apologies for the bot notifications everyone. I promise upgrades will be done in the new year that should stop that from happening. These instructions are intended to describe how to manage, organize, and upload new media content to the Xenforo 2 Media Gallery module.

Prerequisites:

In order to contribute to most of Godsibb.net’s media libraries, the user must be granted the UMN Curator role or above. To request this role, please PM an administrator. The Xeno Art Gallery, Misc. Art Gallery, and Meme Gallery are exempt from this role requirement.

Xenforo 2.0 only accepts the below file formats by default.
Image Extensions: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .gif
Video Extensions: .avi, .m4v, .mov, .mp4, .ogg, .webm, .wmv
Audio Extensions: .wav, .mp3, .flac

Each piece of media must belong to a Category. Categories are typically organized into two levels. Top level Categories typically represent the game series of the upload (‘Xenosaga,’ ‘Xenogears,’ and ‘Xenoblade’) and second level Categories represent the media type (‘Images,’ ‘Audio,’ and ‘Videos’). Categories may be further divided into Albums which represent pieces of media which belong in the same group (E.g.: ‘Xenogears Perfect Works,’ ‘Xenosaga III Face Graphics’). The Xeno Art Gallery, Misc. Art Gallery, and Meme Gallery do not have second level Categories or individualized Albums.

To begin managing media in Xenforo 2.0, click on the MEDIA tab at the top of the homepage.

Upload Media Directly to a Category:

From the ‘Browse albums’ page, click the ADD MEDIA… button. This is located near the top-right of the page.

From the ‘Add media to…’ pop-up, select the most appropriate Category for the piece of media. E.g.: Misc. Art Gallery.

From the ‘Add media’ page, select ‘Upload file’ to browse for media to upload.

When the file finishes uploading, fill out the Title and Description of the media. Optionally, Tags may be added to the piece so that it is indexed and easily searchable. Each tag is separated by a comma. After completing this information, click SAVE.

The media will now be viewable in Godsibb’s galleries directly under the assigned Category.

Creating a New Media Album:

Under NAVIGATION on the left-hand side of the ‘Media’ page, select the most appropriate Category for the Album. E.g.: Xenosaga → Videos.

Next, click CREATE ALBUM.

From the ‘Create album’ page, give the Album an appropriate title and description.

Select ‘Upload file’ to browse for media to upload to the new Album. Note: new Albums cannot be empty.

When the file finishes uploading, give the file an appropriate Title, Description, and Tags. Click save to complete creating and uploading to an Album.

Upload Media to an Existing Album:

Under NAVIGATION on the left-hand side of the ‘Media’ page, select the Category that houses the existing Album. Ex: Xenosaga → Videos → Xenosaga I HD Upscale Tests.

Under the selected Album, click ADD MEDIA.

Select ‘Upload file’ to browse for and upload the media to the selected Album. After the file is uploaded, provide a Title, Description, and Tags. Click SAVE to complete the upload.

The file will now be added to the selected Album successfully.
